After the utter fiasco surrounding cabinet 79 and its initial inability to service enough homes with a fibre broadband connection, Openreach have struck once again with the newly activated cabinet 80.
The cabinet started accepting orders around Christmas time, however this was only for a select amount of streets. Those with postcodes serviced by cabinet 80 were not guaranteed to be able to sign up with their preferred provider. In this case it was apparent that some streets were falsely reported to be in an area where ‘the line is too long to provide fibre’ yet the address was only about 50 metres away from the cabinet.
This was then replaced by ‘Your area is enabled for Superfast Fibre but demand is high on your cabinet right now’. This is a result of Openreach installing a cabinet that cannot satisfy enough demand. For the second time.
Openreach did promise that history would not repeat itself but of course… a lot of Parc Derwen residents are used to broken promises, so are not surprised.
Also to add to this, there seems to be no insight on cabinet 162 and there have also been reports of poor FTTP performance.
Are Openreach going to be proactive in sorting this mess out?
