you may recall that some months ago I shared a link to a community access survey to understand what journeys you made, to where and how.
The survey also asked you to outline your concerns regarding access within our community and what would encourage people to walk and cycle more as an alternative to the car.
I would like to thank you all for your time in completing the questionnaires.
I’m pleased to announce that an interim report has been produced by a working group of the community council summarising the results of the questionnaires and subsequent surveys of various hot spots within the Coity Higher area. The report can be found by following the link below.
The report suggests possible solutions to the access hot spots that have been identified.
I must stress that this is an interim report and the next stage is to consult with you all to see if you agree with the findings and possible solutions and for you to highlight where we may have missed things or maybe where you disagree with or can offer alternative solutions.
We also need to understand what your highest priorities are (there are many issues highlighted) but where would you spend your first pound?
The next steps will be for the working group to take account of your feedback and develop a final Community Access Plan. That plan will then form the basis of a funding application from BCBC and the Welsh Government to progress one or more project.
Although the plan will initially be used to seek funding for a project/s I believe that it will be the first time that the community council has a single document summarising the transport and access challenges faced by our community and it should therefore inform council priorities and future projects (and funding applications) over the next five years following May’s elections.
So, please have a look at the report and feedback your comments either to me or the clerk of the community council by 28th February 17 so that they can be incorporated into the final Community Access Plan.
As the plan enters its next phase the workload will increase so we’re also looking for people from within the community with the time, determination and skills to join the working group and help drive the completion of Coity Higher’s Community Access Plan.
Thanks, look forward to hearing your ideas.
