Happy New Year to all from the PDCA

So, 2017 is shaping up to be a massive year for Parc Derwen. While the building continues, the PDCA are busy behind the scenes thinking of ways to improve every aspect of living here and the surrounding area. The events we have come up with so far consist of something that everyone can enjoy. Soon, they will all be announced with the provision of adding many more to the 2017 calendar. We are also looking forward to getting the Neighborhood Watch off the ground. This website will also continue to grow and become more indispensable to current residents and those new to living here.

The PDCA also pledge to support good causes in Bridgend and that will always be the case. We have already raised over £300 for Y Bont in a month. There will be much more of this to come.

As a not for profit organisation we are not going to be conservative when spending to improve our community. Whatever we raise for the PDCA coffers will be put back into the community. Whether it is to pay for an event to happen or for a permanent fixture to be installed…it will benefit us all.

We would like to thank every resident and every trader for their support so far. We want to hear what we can do to make your 2017 even better than we hope it already will be.

So on that note; we would like to wish everyone connected with Parc Derwen a happy and prosperous new year…and an exciting future beyond 2017 living in the community.

Website volunteers required!!

This website is all about the residents and community of Parc Derwen. It has been created in a way that allows involvement from anyone in the community that wants to get involved.

We are looking for great photos, short stories, event announcements and information that will make this website a tool that brings the Parc Derwen residents even closer together.

The PDCA do post a lot on here but we are desperate for others to volunteer as a contributor. No IT skills are required as there is always someone on hand to point you in the right direction.

A login account will be supplied to whoever is willing to help out and the more people we have posting articles the better the website will serve the community.

Please use the contact page or email all@parcderwen.com to join us!

Carols On The Greeny!!

Further to the many requests received for a repeat of the Carol Concert on the Green and the visit from Santa  we held last year, I am pleased to let you know that arrangements for this Christmas Eve event are well underway.

Santa is booked, volunteers are making mince pies, Welsh Cakes,  sausage rolls and fairy cakes, Rhian Butcher is sorting the music and songs, the wine is mulling and any other offers of help will be gratefully received.

This event is for all Coity residents and will take place on the green bordering Maes yr Eithin.  All that we ask is, if you are bringing children please provide a small wrapped gift for each of your children, clearly marked with their name which will magically reappear in Santas sack for him to give out.  We could do with some Santa helpers to discretely collect in the presents ready for Santa. If you want to dress as an elf all the better !

Between now and Saturday we are going to convert our double garage into a grotto for Santa and a shelter for singers – in case of inclement weather like last years. If anyone can help with this temporary conversion, all help most welcome.

Quick recap:

Venue – the Green bordering Maes yr Eithin

Start Time – 6pm

Date – Saturday 24th Dec.

Please let me know if you are coming and if you can help in any way via a message on this post. I would like some idea of numbers to ensure we have enough food and wine.

Also, tomorrow (Wednesday) is the last day for you to contribute to the collection of non perishable food stuff for donation to the Bridgend food bank.  My home at 5 Maes yr Eithin is the PD collection point so please help out no matter how small your contribution.

Hope to see lots of you on Saturday evening and got my fingers crossed that the storms that are forecast pass us by!!

Best Wishes and Merry Christmas

Carol & Bill Daniel
